Problem: Clogged Shower Heads

And so our shower clogs don’t feel left out, here’s one to help clear your head—so to speak—of soap scum and mineral deposits. Hope there’s gold in them thar hills!

HEADS UP!

What you’ll need:

    1. White vinegar
    2. Hand towel, rag, or plastic bag
    3. Duct tape, large rubber band, scrunchie, or hair clip
    4. Old toothbrush

      What you’ll do:

        1. Drench a towel or fill a plastic bag with vinegar.
        2. Wrap the towel around the shower head or top of the bag and secure with tape, a rubber band, a scrunchie, or a hair clip and let soak overnight.
        3. Use a toothbrush to scrub away the scum or minerals.

          EH, WHAT’S UP, DOC?

          What you’ll need:

            1. Small bowl
            2. Alum (it’s a salt-based spice used for pickling)
            3. 1⁄4 cup lemon juice
            4. Dish towel or rag

              What you’ll do:

                1. Mix 1 teaspoon of alum with the lemon juice.
                2. Drench the rag in the mixture and scrub the shower head until the “mouth shrinks”, i.e., deposits disappear.
