How to create a stunning Georgian-style bedroom

How to create a stunning Georgian style bedroomA Georgian-style bedroom is a great way to inject some elegance into your life. The look is timeless too, so you won’t find yourself in a rush to redecorate as you might be with other styles that go out of fashion as quickly as they come in. Follow these easy steps to create the Georgian look in your own bedroom.

·         Dark furniture should be set against crisp white décor to create the classic contrast of colours popularised in the period. Dark wooden bedframes will create the right effect, but for a fresh, spacious look, a comfortable divan bed (there are a few here http://www.time4sleep.co.uk/beds/divan-beds) dressed with pure cotton sheets is perfect. Chests of drawers or dressers in deep mahogany shades can be matched to bedside tables, window frames and picture frames.

·         Make a feature of your window by installing a window seat in either dark wood or white. If you wish to introduce an element of colour or pattern, now is the time to do so; a few cushions can make this new addition truly inviting, even if the view doesn’t offer up a grand Georgian estate!

·         It’s the little things that count, so why not include a decorative jug and basin. Perhaps use the jug to display fresh white flowers, or keep the simplicity of the Georgian home alive by standing it on a corner table in an understated homage to the trend.
