Choosing the Right Bed for Your New Bedroom
Posted by at August 8, 2012 in Bedroom
When you look at your bedroom, what do you see? Is it an elegant place where you can escape from the stresses of the outside world? Or more like an uninspiring mass of clutter and miss-matched décor? If it’s the latter, you are one of the many people out there whose bedroom is in dire need of a revamp.
The first thing to do is to decide on a style of décor. If you are unsure about which direction to take, make yourself a mood board. Write down any words that you associate with the phrase ‘the perfect bedroom’ – ‘calming’ and ‘romantic’ perhaps, or ‘vibrant’ and ‘inspiring’. Collect swatches of colour and fabric and build up a collage – this will let you try out different textures and colours against each other without having to commit.
While the décor style and colour scheme can be tricky to decide upon, choosing the perfect bed won’t be so difficult. The classic look of a wooden bed will perfectly complement most bedroom trends, from traditional, country cottage-style décor to minimalist rooms where sleek, clean lines rule.
The benefits of a wooden bed, aside from its aesthetic adaptability, include durability and strength – making it a good long-term investment. In fact, you are likely to find yourself redecorating your room time and time again as your tastes change, while the same bed still stands firm.
While the colours and furnishings in your room are likely to be subject to change, your needs will, in all probability, remain the same. If you struggle with storage space, a bed that features room to hide away that clutter will always come in handy. If your home has a low ceiling, you can make it seem less encroaching by opting for a Japanese-style low wooden bed.
By choosing a classic material for your bed, you can feel free to decorate in any style you fancy, safe in the knowledge that your bed will complement your choices.
